Playorena education program is the result of over thirty-five years of development starting in 1974 at a community center in California, where Susan Astor designed a toddler program, called Kindergym. Together with her husband Michael, a psychotherapist, they created a developmentally appropriate recreational program based on the premise that self-acceptance is a major key to growth and development. The Eduplay Corporation, which began as Playorena Inc., opened it's first Playorena location in 1981 in New York and in Istanbul Turkey in 2007. Over the years in over one-hundred locations throughout the US and internationally, hundreds of thousands of children have benefited from the Playorena program.
